DIY Block Foundation Repair for House Build (Part 2)
Part 2 in the series of how we built our super-insulated house. We built this during 2012. This video is the process we had to go through to repair the foundation. We had to repair the broken blocks, re-point the mortar joints. Then we added some new courses and rebar. Finally we filled all the cores with concrete and poured a slab. This slab is sometimes called a “rat slab”.
I removed the bulk-head and boiler pit. We will not have a need for an oil boiler because this is going to be a super-insulated house (close to passive house). Alaina even helped with the jack-hammer.
