In December 2005, the Forest Service published the Travel Management Rule (TMR) requiring each individual forest to designate roads, trails and areas authorized for motor vehicle travel. Each forest will involve a variety of agencies and interested parties in this designation process.
The Kaibab National Forest has three districts which will each be designating routes and areas. The chart below shows each district's target date and where it is in the Route Designation Process.

The Tusayan District is planning to have a Notice and Comment period on the final proposed action in October of 2007, with an Environmental Assessment and Decision Notice completed in January of 2008. The MVUM is scheduled to be printed October 2008
The Williams District is planning to scope the Proposed Action in late August 2007, have a Notice and Comment in January of 2008, and complete the Environmental Assessment and Decision Notice in March 2008. The MVUM map is scheduled to be printed in October 2008.
The North Kaibab Ranger District is in the initial phases of the travel analysis process. The MVUM is planned for printing in July of 2009.
