Coronado National Forest

In December 2005, the Forest Service published the Travel Management Rule (TMR) requiring each individual forest to designate roads, trails and areas authorized for motor vehicle travel. Each forest will involve a variety of agencies and interested parties in this designation process.

The Coronado National Forest will conduct a NEPA process and designate routes through publication of Motor Vehicle Use Maps for all five ranger districts by September 2009. The Forest is currently conducting travel analyses for each ecosystem management area. Proposed actions for all ranger districts are expected to be released for scoping by May, 2008. Public meetings for the Nogales , Santa Catalina and Safford ranger districts have already been held. There is a meeting for the Sierra Vista Ranger District scheduled for August 23, and the Douglas RD meeting will be held in late September, date to be determined. These meetings will be announced and posted on our website.
