Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests
In December 2005, the Forest Service published the Travel Management Rule (TMR) requiring each individual forest to designate roads, trails and areas authorized for motor vehicle travel. Each forest will involve a variety of agencies and interested parties in this designation process.
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs) are currently working with those interested to identify changes to the existing travel management system. The ASNFs plans to present to the public a proposed action in mid-October, 2007 and prepare a forests-wide Environmental Impact Statement during 2008-2009 and is scheduled to print the Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) by September 2009.
